What is EAA Young Eagles?
The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.
Since 1992, more than 1.6 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and have been flown by more than 42,000 volunteer pilots.

How do you participate?

There are now five steps to the EAA Young Eagle Flight Plan. The first is the free flight. Chapter 14 flies Young Eagles each 2nd Saturday, weather permitting (check weather here=http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=SDM or the embedded weather widget pasted below). Every interested young person is invited to participate and encouraged to return and continue their aviation experience. Youth groups can also arrange to participate. Registration forms are available for download below. Each Young Eagle participant is required to have one completed by a parent or guardian.
NOTE: Due to the popularity of the program, we strongly encourage Young Eagle participants, individuals and small groups, to RSVP in advance, two to four weeks if possible. Groups over six people must be confirmed a month or more in advance. Space is limited, so when you RSVP, the earlier, the better.

What is available after the flight day?

After their first flight, Young Eagle participants are encouraged to become an EAA and Chapter 14 members - both free for the first year. Keeping involved will help budding aviation enthusiasts to do better on their Flight Training course, more quickly arrange their first Flight Lesson and be better prepared to apply for Flight Training Scholarships (see Young Eagles=http://www.youngeagles.org/flightplan/ for more details). Occasional advanced programs will be offered by Chapter 14 as time and resources permit. So you can see, staying involved is encouraged.
